Joseph tells his Brothers who he is. · 3797 dagen geleden by Ad van den Ende

Genesis 45

And Joseph could not stand for
all those who stood by him,
but he said:
“Send all away from me.
And no more stood anyone
near to Joseph,
when he made himself known to his brothers.

And he brought out a sound with weeping;
all the Egyptians heard it,
and audible it was
in the house of Pharao.

Joseph said to his brothers:
Ἐγώ εἰμι Ιωσηφ· ἔτι ὁ πατήρ μου ζῇ;
“I am Joseph. Is my father still alive?”
And his brothers could not answer him,
for they were confused.

And Joseph said to his brothers:
“Come closer to me.” And they came closer.
And he said, “I am Joseph, your brother,
whom you have sold into Egypt.
And now do not be distressed,
and let no bitterness emerge to you,
because you have sold me here,
for to (preserve) life God has sent me
in front of you;
For this is the second year
that hunger (is) on the earth,
and (there are) still five years left,
in which there will be neither plowing
nor harvest.

For god has sent me
before you
to keep alive of you a remnant on the earth,
and to feed of you a great remainder.
So not you have sent me away to here,
but (nobody else) than God,
and he has made me a father to Pharaoh,
and lord of all his house
and ruler over all the land Egypt.

So, having made hurry
you must go up to my father
and say to him:
‘This says your son Joseph,
God has made me
lord of all the land Egypt;
so come down to me and do not wait.
And you shall settle
in the land Goshen of Arabia,
and you shall be near me,
you and your sons
and the sons of your sons,
your sheep and your cows,
and all that is of you,
and I shall feed you there,
for (there will come) five more years of hunger,
so that you will not be destroyed,
you and your sons,
and all that belongs to you.

See, your eyes see
and the eyes of my brother Benjamin (see)
that (it is) my mouth that speaks to you.
So report to my father
all my fame,
that in Egypt and all that you have seen.
And hurrying bring down “
my father here.

And after falling upon
the neck of Benjamin,
his brother, he wept upon him,
and Benjamin wept
upon his neck.

And having kissed all his brothers
he wept upon them,
and after that talked
his brothers with him.

And the report was made known
in the house of Pharaoh
(by people who) said:
“The brothers of Joseph have come!”
And Pharaoh was pleased and his royal household.
And Pharaoh said to Joseph:
“Say to your brothers:
‘Do this:
load your animals
and go back to the land of Canaan,
and after taking with you your father
and that what belongs to you,
you have to come to me,
and I shall give you
(something) of all the good things of Egypt,
and you will eat the best of the land.

And you have to charge this:
to take for them wagons from the land Egypt
for your little ones
and for your wives,
and after having taken your father with you
you have to come.

And do not turn
with your eyes to your equipment,
for all the good things of Egypt will be for you.’”

And the sons of Israel did so.
Joseph gave them wagons
according to what had been said by Pharaoh, the king,
and he gave them foods for the journey.

And to all of them he gave two dresses;
and to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of gold
and five sets of garments.
And to his father
he sent in the same manner
also ten donkeys ,
that carried of all the good things of Egypt,
and ten hinnies
that carried bread
for his father on the journey.
And he let depart his brothers ,
and they set out,
and he said to them:
“Do not quarrel along the way.”

And they went up out of Egypt
and came in the land of Canaan
to Jacob, their father.
And they reported him, saying:
“Your son, Joseph, is alive!
And he rules over all the land Egypt.”
And the mind of Jacob was dazed,
for he did not believe them.
But they told him
all the words spoken by Joseph,
that he had said to them.
And when he had seen the wagons
that Joseph had sent
to take him along,
the spirit revived
of Jacob, their father.

And Israel said:
“It is something magnifcent
if Joseph, my son, is still alive!
Having gone on the yourney I shall see him
before I die.”
